Advocacy News + Updates

Today, IJM joins the country in one of the largest awareness generating events to end slavery: the End It Movement's Shine a Light on Slavery Day. The End It Movement is a coalition of the leading organizations in the fight for freedom.

This year, advocates around the country are taking part in the End It Movement by asking their members of Congress to pass the End Modern Slavery Initiative. This bill will unite leaders across the globe to enact proven anti-slavery models on a worldwide scale—bringing freedom to millions of families who are currently living in slavery.

IJM joined Senator Corker at Belmont University earlier this week in Tennessee, to shed light on modern-day slavery and bring attention to the largest bill to date moving through Congress to fight slavery, the End Modern Slavery Initiative, or EMSI (#EndSlaveryAct).

On the other side of the country, Rotary and advocates in Oregon came together to ask their senators to help move this initiative forward. In response, Senator Jeff Merkley cosponsored the EMSI and released a video in conjunction with the annual End It Movement Shine a Light on Slavery Day (held every February 25).

We hope you join advocates around the US to make freedom a reality for those enslaved around the world.

Take action today and send a message to your members of Congress, asking them to join the #enditmovement by cosponsoring the #EndSlaveryAct!

Here's what to do.

Note: Be sure to include #ENDITmovement and #endslaveryact in your tweet.
