Today is End It Movement's Shine a Light on Slavery Day!

Join IJM and people around the world and use social media to help fight modern slavery.

Use social media to ask your senators to GIVE FREEDOM and make a difference in millions of lives around the world by supporting the #EndSlaveryAct. Using Twitter to contact your members of Congress is one of the quickest and most efficient ways to send a message to your representatives.

Here's what to do:

Find out and write down the names of your senators.

Click on this link to go to the Open Congress site, where you can use your information to find the names of your members of Congress.

Have your senators already co-sponsored the #EndSlaveryAct (End Modern Slavery Initiative, or S. 553)?

Now that you know their names, look for them on this official list of co-sponsors (open by clicking here—you'll be accessing the Congress.gov site).

*If their name is already on the list of supporters, great! You'll still want to tweet and thank them for their support. Use the last image and language below.

Tweet your senators.

1) Draw a red X on your hand and take a picture of yourself to use with your post and show the world that you're in it to end it. Or, pose with a red X and take a picture.

2) We've created some sample posts (below) to use with your picture, but feel free to personalize. Just be sure to use the hashtags #EndSlaveryAct and #enditmovement.

Looking for your senators' Twitter handles? Find them via the lists we've created and shared via our own Twitter account, @FreedomCommons. Click here to access our Twitter lists.
